SHAPE GREENSBURG

SHAPE GREENSBURG

The Shape Greensburg project was an update of the City’s 2008 Comprehensive Plan document.  In August 2021, the City selected Environmental Planning & Design to guide the development of The Plan.  The final comprehensive plan update included not only a core plan for the City, but also a blight mitigation strategy and comprehensive recreation, parks, and open space plan documents.  It was adopted by the City of Greensburg in December 2022.

Who was involved?

The City's nine-member Planning Commission was charged with leading the development of the Shape Greensburg document.  To broaden input and participation, the Commission pulled together a large, diverse group of key stakeholders from across the City to serve as part of a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.  Now that the Plan is adopted, the Steering Committee has been disbanded and the Planning Commission is responsible for implementation.

What was the budget?

The City secured a total of $150,000 for the Comprehensive Plan Update Project.  The budget included a mix of funding from the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the City’s General Fund.
